David in Oval Track Classic Magazine

Issue three of Oval Track Classic Magazine is out now and features a two page look at one of the UK’s most versatile racing drivers, David Oates. David started his racing career on the short ovals and that’s what the magazine deals with, the classic days of the sport. “It was David’s son Jamie who inspired the article,” says the magazine’s editor, Richard John Neil. “He sent me a race programme from 1980 which included David’s profile and I thought it would be nice to reprint it along with David’s answers to the questions as they stand now, some thirty years later. David has featured in several of my short oval books so it was nice to continue the trend and include him in the magazine.”

The magazine looks at racing in days gone by as well as featuring current classic car racing on the short ovals and can be purchased online at www.ovaltrack.co.uk

Andover/Gosport Endurance Events

The June/Andover two and half hour endurance event provided a great turn out with all the teams being very competitive, the Gosport July meeting was just as good with eleven teams, both nights were again a great success, and David would like to thank everybody who took part and especially to all the staff for making the events successful.

If you need a group booking for a karting event whether for just friends or company team building exercise or promotional meeting, contact David and he will be glad to organise a personal event or contact Mark direct at Teamsport.

Buckmore Park Karting one hour/two driver race

Consisting of two thirty minute races, adding finishing points from both for the overall result, racing on the full 1.2km circuit.

After ten minutes of practice for both of the drivers David and Jamie qualified 7^th out of 36 teams.

David finished race 1 in 2^nd place taking 35 points.

Jamie for race 2 was looking good for 4^th when he was called in for a stop/go for overtaking on the yellows, knocking him back to 7^th and 30 points.

The aggregate result of both races , giving them 65 points and 3^rd overall.

Competing against 36 teams they were very happy with the result.

Teamsport Expand

Teamsport Karting are now represented at 8 different venues across the uk, the latest additions being the all new London and Cambridge centres, Meanwhile Crawley has now expanded to what is being acclaimed as the UK’s new indoor premier centre! Be sure to check it out!

Karting Success

After a competitive four round Karting endurance series David would like to thank all teams and drivers for taking part.

With over 50 different drivers and 12 different teams it was amazing to see that in each round the top placing’s were rarely covered by over a minute.

With most teams carrying a driver from a Motorsport background it was always assured that there was going to be competitive battles all the way through the positions, This was proved when 7 teams were all vying for one of the top 3 series placing’s going into the last round.

After the final two and a half hours racing, it was clear that everyone who participated had enjoyed a good evenings racing, proven by the amount of enquires to go and do it all again!

David was heard commenting “without the enthusiasm and support of everyone involved it wouldn’t have been such a success, Cheers guys and girls!”
